Our Story

Freeman Ridge Bike Park was born out of a deep passion for riding, a unique opportunity on a piece of family forestland, a background in professional trail building, and the rapidly growing mountain bike scene here in Maine. The piece of land on Freeman Ridge Road has been in the Lee family since the 1960’s. Sitting almost completely untouched for over 50 years, Peter had the idea to do something recreation oriented on this piece of land. After a thorough walk through, Spencer and Peter decided that the land had potential for mountain bike trails, and coupled with the energy being brought toward the mountain bike scene up the road in Carrabassett Valley, they decided to make a go of it! The summer of 2015 was spent getting the lay of the land and making plans for the future. Construction started in earnest in 2016 and we have been able to keep adding trails to our network every year since! We are fortunate to have the opportunity to work on Maine’s premiere trail network, Carrabassett Valley Trails, and bring the design and construction techniques learned there down to FRBP. We are also fortunate to have some of Maine’s best trail builders, Josh Tauses and David Richards, build here at FRBP. This project is the cumulation of thousands of hours of hard work, small step after small step. Freeman Ridge Bike Park is made up of a small staff; Spencer, Peter, and Kayla. We are excited to share our trails with riders from all over, and especially excited to have created a recreational resource for our local community. We are thrilled to be a part of an ever growing mountain bike scene here in the Western Mountains of Maine, and look forward to continuing to expand our operations in the coming years.
